What Is UBD

What if the problem isn't that you don't know who you want to become?

What if you've simply never had enough room to discover who you are without the expectations?

Throughout life, people adapt. We learn what earns approval. What keeps relationships intact. What makes us successful. What makes us useful. What makes us acceptable.

Many of those adaptations were intelligent and necessary. But an adaptation can remain long after the circumstances that created it have disappeared.

Unbecoming By Design helps you examine those patterns without treating your past self as a mistake. It brings together three complementary systems — Human Design, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and IFS-informed concepts — to explore two connected questions: Who are you naturally designed to be? And what has been standing in the way of living from that truth?

Human Design

What may naturally belong to me?

A framework for self-observation and experimentation — not fortune-telling, not a fixed verdict on who you are. Human Design offers a way of exploring your natural way of operating, including:

  • Energy and rhythm
  • Decision-making and inner authority
  • Interaction and natural tendencies
  • Areas especially vulnerable to outside conditioning

Create your Human Design chart to explore these elements in your own design.

NLP

What keeps recreating what no longer serves me?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming examines how thoughts, language, beliefs, associations, and emotional responses shape how you experience and respond to life.

  • Thoughts and internal language
  • Beliefs and associations
  • Habitual, automatic patterns
  • Interpretations that outlived their usefulness
IFS-Informed Concepts

What part of me is trying to protect me?

Internal Family Systems offers language for the different internal voices, or "parts," that influence behavior — used here as parts-based self-awareness, not clinical IFS therapy.

  • Recognizing protective patterns
  • Understanding what a part needs
  • Responding differently, on purpose
IFS-Informed Concepts

The Parts We Carry

None of these parts are the enemy. Each one developed to help you survive, succeed, belong, or feel safe.

Core Self

The centered, compassionate, curious internal self — steady beneath the noise of the other parts.

Managers

Parts that try to keep life controlled, responsible, productive, safe, or predictable.

Firefighters

Parts that react quickly when emotional discomfort becomes intense.

Exiles

Parts that carry pain, fear, shame, rejection, vulnerability, or unresolved experiences.

Unbecoming By Design uses IFS-informed concepts and parts-based self-awareness in coaching. This is not licensed IFS therapy or a substitute for mental-health treatment.

How The Three Methods Work Together

Human Design, NLP, and IFS-informed thinking address different layers of the same experience.

Human Design asks

What may naturally belong to me?

NLP asks

What thoughts, beliefs, language, and learned patterns keep recreating what no longer serves me?

IFS-informed work asks

What part of me is trying to protect me, and what might it need before I can respond differently?

Together, these questions create a process for identifying what a person wants to unbecome — without treating her history as something shameful or defective.

Unbecoming is not simply removing old behaviors. It is creating enough internal awareness, stability, and self-trust that a person develops the capacity to hold the life, relationships, decisions, ambitions, and dreams that actually belong to her.

The capacity to hold your dreams.

Discovering the authentic self is only part of the process. The deeper work is becoming emotionally, mentally, and behaviorally capable of actually living from that truth.

Living By Your Design

Understanding what shaped you creates the possibility of choosing what shapes you next. That is the work — practical, gradual, and entirely yours.
